Banned substances
We often read about the use of anabolic steroids by top athletes. These substances mimic the effect of testosterone, but why are they banned?
We provide a complete list of substances banned by the International Olympic Committee. We analyse the workings of anabolic steroids, stimulants and all other groups of performance enhancers in detail. All sportspeople participating in competitive sports, should keep abreast of this ever-changing list, which includes codeine in cough mixtures, asthma medication, and other innocent-looking daily medication.
We also take a look at the latest trends in testing for banned substances, masking agents and the race to develop new tests at the same rate as new banned substances hit the black market.

Never big enough
Some bodybuilders, obsessed with size, may suffer from a disorder called muscle dysmorphia. Basically, they develop a quite distorted idea about what they look like
Methylexaneamine: a new doping drug
Methylexaneamine is currently on the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned list, but it's appearing more often in athletes who fail doping tests. But what is it?
Your guide to banned drugs
Many supplements may contain banned substances and there is a chance that not all the ingredients are accurately listed on the label of a supplement product.
A - Z of masking agents
How diuretics are used to mask te presence of another banned substance.
Beware of slimming products
Nothing is worth the risk of being banned, having to return your prize money and medals, and suffering the humiliation of being prevented from pursuing your sporting career.
