The Mental Health Information Centre of South Africa (MHIC) offers an information, referral, and education service in the mental health field to all South Africans. This service includes the mailing of information brochures and pamphlets, referrals to mental health professionals, support groups and clinical drug trials, and talks to business and school groups.

The MHIC is also active in mental health advocacy and liaises regularly with the media and other relevant role players. The primary aims are to create public awareness and address stigma, encourage early diagnoses and treatment, promote research and ultimately be a recognized leader in mental health.
